Rides in the Tiger Moth

Vintage Tiger MothThe DeHavilland Tiger Moth was first produced in 1931 as a light touring aircraft. Later in 1937, it was mass-produced in England for the Royal Air Force as a primary trainer. N523R was built in 1940 and stationed at RAF SYWELL, Northamptonshire for the duration of World War II. Sold to Deford Aero Club, it remained a trainer until 1966, when it was sold to Cliff Robertson, who was in England for the filming of “633 Squadron”. Fully restored by Rollasons of Croydon, it arrived in the USA and was licensed in the standard category (N8EU). With Cliff’s numerous friends in aviation, this Moth was soloed by Charles Lindbergh and Buzz Aldrin. Cliff used this aircraft in many films, including “The Silver Streak” with Gene Wilder, and “The Aviator” with Christopher Reeves. Bought by its current owners, Nick and Susan Baker, in 1987, it was taken apart and fully restored by 1995. Nick is a professional pilot who has been offering rides in the Moth since 2002.

The Tiger Moth is a fully functioning time machine, which will give you a first hand account of how aviators flew with the Earth’s elements - unlike today’s air travel. Flying in the Moth requires an hour of your time and a sense of adventure, for an unforgettable experience!
